# Is there an absorption indicator?

**Yes: add Absorption.** It is a free official indicator that flags candles where heavy one-sided volume failed to move price. That is the classic sign that someone took the other side quietly.

1. Click **Indicators** in the top bar, or press `/`.
2. Search for "absorption" and click **Add** on **Absorption**, the row marked **Official**.

It draws each candle's delta (buy volume minus sell volume) as a histogram in its own pane and lights the candles that qualify. On the price chart, a dot and a box mark each flagged candle. Absorption also works on CME futures charts.

## What counts as absorption

A candle qualifies when both of these are true:

- Its delta is at least **Delta spike multiple** times the average absolute delta of the last **Delta window in bars** candles (2 times over 48 candles by default).
- Its range from high to low stays under **Max range in ATRs** times the ATR (0.8 by default), with the ATR taken over **ATR length in bars** candles (14 by default).

Raise the multiple for fewer, stronger signals, or lower it to see more. To read absorption by hand on the footprint, see the [footprint playbook](/learn/order-flow/footprint/playbook).
