# How do indicator slots work?

Slots limit how many data indicators run at once. Data indicators are the heavy ones, such as the orderbook heatmap, the footprint and community scripts. Classic indicators such as RSI, moving averages and MACD take no slot, so add as many as you like.

- **Free**: 3 slots, shared by every chart in the layout. A footprint and a heatmap already use two of them, wherever they sit in the grid.
- **OpenMarket Plus**: 10 slots on every chart.

A complex community script can take more than one slot. Hiding an indicator with the eye keeps its slot; removing it frees the slot. The counter on the **Indicators** button shows how many you have used, and [Plans and limits](/learn/getting-started/plans-and-limits) has the full table.
