Can I chart the SPX, NDX, RUT, VIX or DXY index?

Not the index itself. Chart the CME futures that track it (ES, NQ, RTY, YM) or a US fund such as SPY, QQQ, IWM or DIA. For the VIX and the dollar index, chart a fund that follows them, such as VIXY or UUP.

Not the index itself. OpenMarket has no chart for the S&P 500 (SPX), Nasdaq 100 (NDX), Russell 2000 (RUT), Dow Jones (DJI), VIX or US dollar (DXY) index. Chart a market that tracks the index instead:

IndexChart instead
S&P 500 (SPX)ES or MES futures, or the SPY fund
Nasdaq 100 (NDX)NQ or MNQ futures, or the QQQ fund
Russell 2000 (RUT)RTY or M2K futures, or the IWM fund
Dow Jones (DJI)YM or MYM futures, or the DIA fund
VIXa fund that follows VIX futures, such as VIXY
US dollar (DXY)a fund that follows the dollar index, such as UUP

Import from TradingView in the watchlist does the same: a TradingView list with these indexes comes in with the closest market OpenMarket carries.

How do I find them?

  • Futures: type ES in symbol search to open ES1!, the continuous contract; NQ1!, RTY1! and YM1! work the same way, and the dated contracts are listed too. CME futures are free on a 10-minute delay once you accept the CME market data terms: see What do the CME data plans include? The watchlist starter list Indices & futures holds them.
  • Funds: type the ticker, such as SPY, or open the Equities tab of symbol search.
  • Typing SPX finds SPX6900, a crypto token that has nothing to do with the S&P 500.

Can I see options or GEX for SPX or NDX?

  • On a SPY or QQQ chart, the options indicators read the fund's US listed options, where your account has US options data.
  • On an ES or NQ chart, they read the future's own CME options. The GEX profile and the GEX heatmap also have a Chain setting that reads the options of an index or fund that tracks the future instead, such as SPX or SPY on ES and NDX or QQQ on NQ, where your account has US options data. Index options such as SPX and NDX carry trades only, without greeks or open interest, so for GEX pick a fund's chain such as SPY or QQQ.
